Introduction of "Den no Kai" "We wanna spread the fascination and pleasure of old but wonderful Nagauta!" This feeling made two guys form the duo (Nagauta-shamisen players: Kineya Kunitoshi and Matsunaga Tetsukuro) in 1994. Since then, they have held many shamisen performances strenuously in and out of Japan. Their performances are based on the traditional technique of shamisen, but we can enjoy the music and their unique and fun talk. Two players' profiles KINEYA　Kunitoshi Born in Tokyo. When he was his 19 years old, he felt the fascination of Nagauta shamisen and decided to be a pro player. In 1989, he finished learning from the master and was named 'Kineya Kunitoshi'. Now he is a shamisen player as a backbone of this Nagauta field. He plays shamisen in the Japanese dances and the local Nagauta shamisen concerts. He is especially interested in the back stage music in theater. Due to this talent, he is in charge of the stage music in Kabuki performance by the Zensinza company. MATSUNAGA　Tetsukuroh He has loved music since his childhood, and he began to play rock music in a band. In his university life in Nihon university, he concentrated on the band and part-time jobs. In three bands, he was the vocalist, guitarist, basist and drumer. When he was in the third grade of the university, he got the master (Matsunaga Tetsujuro)of shamisen from his mother's recommendation and started to train playing shamisen to be a pro shamisen player. In 1983, he was named Matsunaga Tetsukuro by Master Matsunaga Tetsugoro (the nineth head of the school). As Kunitoshi, now, he is also a shamisen player as an integral part of this Nagauta field. He plays shamisen in the Japanese dances and the local Nagauta shamisen concerts.
